TRG is a 501(c)3 organization, tax ID #85-0542627.

Our Purpose:

Bring back the power of hope to help one another by building a community of veterans, first responders, and their families.

Therapeutic Recreation Group (TRG) believes a strong community blended with outdoor activity will bring bring down the suicide rate amongst our veterans and first responders.

The day to day grind can be exhausting, we’ve found and studies back up that when you can introduce like-minded people that share similar life experiences into an outdoor environment it allows that individual to decompress, many times allowing them to open up and begin the healing process. The outdoor events are great first step sometimes introducing something new & sometimes allowing them to re-live activities they once enjoyed,  either way it’s great to see them plug in and for many it’s something they take home and continue to do. Our follow up program allows us to keep in touch, help our veterans track progress if they wish and continue to surround them with the support they need to achieve that functioning independence.

Our Mission:

Therapeutic Recreation Group is committed to restoring, remediating and rehabilitating veterans and first responders functioning and independence in life activities. Promoting health & wellness and reducing or eliminating life limitations caused by mental or physical disabling conditions.

Therapeutic Recreation Group, along with each Chapter’s purpose, is to address, educate, coordinate, and provide aid and relief to the service members that have been wounded or traumatized in a conflict during the time of war and also service members that have been recognized for their heroic achievements on the battlefield. We provide a medical service that is therapeutic and will help guide these men and women that have faced stressful situations.  We provide education to the community by giving free lectures and slideshows at corporate offices and other public venues as well as utilizing social media channels and the organization’s website to provide facts, statistics, and other related data on causes, current efforts and solutions geared to help these patriots. .

Our service also includes one on one time with Veterans and Active Duty service members that have faced similar situations and have learned coping techniques to fit back into society and their families.  Therapeutic Recreation Group sends out staff, volunteers and interns to raise social consciousness about the cause on a local level and to hold fundraising events in order to provide immediate relief and assistance to those we serve.
