we are driven by a profound mission

To heal the hearts and minds of our nation’s heroes. Founded by veterans for veterans, our organization is dedicated to providing a safe haven where those who have served can find solace, camaraderie, and healing through the power of nature and community.

Every day, countless veterans and first responders face challenges

Challenges stemming from physical injuries, mental health struggles, or the weight of their service. At TRG, we address these challenges head-on.

our programs create safe spaces

  • At TRG, we address veteran challenges head-on by providing therapeutic outdoor experiences.
From fishing trips to hiking adventures, our programs create safe spaces for individuals to decompress, reconnect with nature, and rediscover activities they love-or try something new.

  • Building Supportive Communities
We bring together like-minded individuals who share similar experiences. These connections foster understanding, camaraderie, and lasting friendships.

  • Promoting Long-Term Wellness
Our follow-up programs ensure participants continue to grow, heal, and thrive. We track progress and provide ongoing support to help them achieve independence in life’s activities.

I attended the TRG duck hunt at Legends Cove, this by far has been the best experience I have had being around like minded people. I was able to make lifelong connections that I can rely on any time I need something.

PJ Kratohvil

P.J. Kratohvil is a dedicated veteran and entrepreneur with a strong background in service and community engagement. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 2001, serving as a division MP and participating in various roles, including mounted and dismounted patrols, Generals JUMP team, and as a combat motorcycle operator. His military career spanned multiple tours, including two deployments to Iraq, after which he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

Upon returning to Texas, P.J. transitioned into the construction industry, co-founding Complete Exterior Solutions with his wife of 24 years. Together, they built a thriving business, which they recently sold to allow P.J. to focus on his next chapter. This strategic move enables him to dedicate more time to the Therapeutic Recreation Group (TRG), a venture he co-founded with Robbie, a fellow veteran and longtime friend.

P.J. and Robbie served together for several years, sharing experiences that have shaped their vision for TRG. They are excited to leverage their combined expertise to serve veterans and first responders, providing meaningful support and opportunities through TRG’s initiatives.

ROBBIE HORNE

Co-Founder

Robbie Horne is a dedicated Marine veteran and co-founder of the Therapeutic Recreation Group (TRG), fueled by an unwavering passion for serving fellow veterans and first responders. He honorably served 13 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer, participating in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and returning for a second tour in 2004. During his career, he excelled as a Military Police Instructor and Platoon Sergeant, with global deployments that included a tour in Japan—where his youngest child was born.

After transitioning from military service, Robbie immersed himself in veteran-focused charities, driven by the urgent need to support his brothers and sisters in arms. His adventures have spanned the globe, from summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa to fly fishing the pristine waters of New Mexico’s Rio Grande Valley, where he has built enduring friendships through shared experiences.

Robbie’s commitment is profoundly personal, rooted in the heartbreaking loss of his brother—a fellow Marine veteran—to suicide in 2012. This tragedy has intensified his resolve to combat the devastating rate of veteran suicides and drive that number to zero. Through TRG, he works tirelessly to fill critical gaps in therapeutic options, offering holistic healing through outdoor recreation and peer support for veterans and first responders.

Robbie’s distinguished service has earned him numerous accolades, including the Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V” device, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal (with four stars), Korean Defense Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (x4). Above all, his loving wife Sarah and their four children—Madison, Jaelyn, Trayce, and Kendall—remain his greatest source of inspiration, strength, and motivation every day.
